DEEP ROOTS IN OUR COMMUNITY
Judge Eric Norris was born in Athens and grew up in the Normaltown and Forest Heights areas. During his teenage years, the Norris family moved to a farm on Jimmie Daniel Road that had been in the family for generations. Judge Norris's father worked in banking and financial services in Athens for over 40 years and founded Mary’s Tack and Feed on Atlanta Highway.
A proud graduate of our public schools, Eric attended Oglethorpe Elementary, Oconee Middle, and Oconee County High Schools. After graduating from college and law school, he returned home and opened a law practice in Watkinsville.
In 1996, Eric married his best friend, Jennifer Stewart, and they made their home in Forest Heights - a second time for Eric in this wonderful neighborhood. Jennifer is a native Athenian and grew up in the Kingswood subdivision. Her father, Dr. Raymond E. Stewart, founded the Stewart Clinic on Prince Avenue in 1973 and practiced in Athens for over 30 years. Jennifer is a "Double Dawg" graduate of the University of Georgia. After completing her undergraduate and masters degrees in music, Jennifer taught orchestra at Clarke Middle School and Clarke Central High School. She currently heads up the UGA String Project at the UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music and is also the owner of Athena Quartet, which plays for many weddings and special events in the Athens area.
After living in Forest Heights for several years, the Norris family moved to Oconee County and now reside on a small farm in Bishop with their two children and various animals. Their son Caleb (18) is an infantryman in the GA Army National Guard and a freshman at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, where he is a member of the Corps of Cadets. Their daughter Greer (16) is in her junior year of high school and looks forward to a career in healthcare.
